Kokoro

An intimate Japanese restaurant where nigiri, omakase, and traditional techniques find inspiration in local ingredients and in the territory surrounding Tulum.

In Japanese, kokoro is a word difficult to translate with a single idea. It can refer to the heart, but also to the mind, the spirit and the intention behind an action. At Kokoro Tulum, that philosophy finds a natural expression around the bar. The cuisine starts from Japanese techniques and respect for the product, with nigiri, sushi and omakase experiences where each piece seeks balance before excess. Carefully selected fish and special products coexist with ingredients found closer to the Caribbean, allowing Japan to dialogue with Mexico without either side having to disappear. The bar creates a direct relationship between the one who prepares and the one who eats. Cuts, temperatures, rice and small gestures gain importance when the distance between kitchen and table practically disappears, turning dinner into something closer and more precise. Kokoro reminds us that a technique can travel thousands of kilometers without losing its origin. Japan brings the hands and discipline; Tulum, new ingredients and another landscape. Between both remains what the name attempts to explain: cooking not only with knowledge, but also with intention.
