Akuma Tiger

A vibrant Japanese restaurant where contemporary sushi, creativity, and a bold identity offer a freer, more dynamic version of Japan in Tulum.

Akuma Tiger Sushi deliberately moves away from the quiet, ceremonial image that usually accompanies Japanese cuisine. Its personality is more graphic, energetic, and contemporary, creating a space where sushi can be taken seriously without the experience having to be all about it. The menu revolves around sushi, rolls, and different interpretations of Japanese flavors, combining technique and creativity in a proposal designed both for sharing and to explore piece by piece. Presentation and product are important parts of a cuisine that seeks to have its own character. That same energy continues beyond the plate. The visual concept and the atmosphere make Akuma Tiger immediately recognizable, something especially valuable in a city where new restaurants appear with almost suspicious frequency. Akuma can be translated from Japanese as “demon,” while the tiger brings the other half of an identity that is hard to ignore. Perhaps that is why this is not the place to look for a completely silent Japan. Here the sushi bares its teeth.
